Moving on
Ending your tenancy
If you wish to end your tenancy, please let us know – we need four
weeks’ notice starting from a Monday. When you leave, please
make sure all personal belongings are removed, and leave the
property how you would want to find it.
Mutual exchange
We have a separate leaflet available about this subject, should you
wish to know more.
In brief, the quickest way to move is by swapping your home with
another customer, known as a Mutual Exchange. You can apply at
www.homeswapper.co.uk and once you have permission, you can
advertise your home for exchange and view available properties for
free. www.homeswapper.co.uk
New build properties
As part of your moving in process, we would ask you to take some
time to understand how a brand new home can differ from an older
one. New build properties require a slightly different type of care
to older properties so please familiarise yourself with the guidance
below to ensure you get the best from your home.
Defects
Newly built properties carry a repairs liability period with the builder
for 12 months following handover to bdht. During this period
the developer will return to repair faults which occur because of
workmanship or installation issues - these are what are referred
to as defects. You should report defect repairs to bdht directly
and not to the builder (add in phone number/mybdht?)
