Utilities
Now that you have your new home, you’ll need to start paying for
gas and electricity usage and inform the suppliers that you’re the
new tenant. Here’s what to do:
• Read the meters as soon as possible and keep a record of the
readings.
• Contact the current energy supplier to provide meter readings
and register your details.
• Arrange for supplies to be connected (if not connected already)
For Gas, contact the meter number helpline: 0870 608 1524
For Electric, contact Western Power: 0800 096 3080
You can of course move to another supplier if you wish after you
have set up your account.
It’s a good idea to phone your supplier on the day you sign your
tenancy agreement to confirm your contact details and meter
readings.
